Alasania Comments on His Meeting with Ivanishvili
Civil Georgia, Tbilisi / 7 Nov.'14 / 17:33

Ex-defense minister Irakli Alasania, whose Free Democrats party has quit ruling Georgian Dream coalition, said on Friday that he met ex-PM Bidzina Ivanishvili on November 6 to discuss recent political developments in the country.

“We have exchanged views about the current political situation in the country. It was a very sincere conversation,” Alasania told journalists in the Parliament in Tbilisi, where he is meeting parliament speaker Davit Usupashvili.

“An agreement was reached that we should proceed the political process in a way that will not damage the state – that was mainly the substance of our conversation,” Alasania said, adding that “many issues” were also discussed on which he would speak publicly.

Ivanishvili, who was present at meetings of GD leadership council which were held this week in response to crisis within the coalition, is expected to speak about the recent events in an interview with Georgian public broadcaster, planned for Saturday evening.
