Georgia Bids to Host 2014 Winter Olympics

President of the Georgian Olympic Committee Badri Patarkatsishvili announced on June 22 that Georgia has applied to host the 2014 Winter Olympic Games.

President Mikheil Saakashvili has signed Georgia’s official bid at a ceremony held in the office of the Georgian Olympic Committee.

Georgia has nominated its resorts of Borjomi and Bakuriani as the venue for the games. “I am confident that we will win this bid,” Badri Patarkatsishvili stated at the ceremony.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) launched the Candidature Acceptance Procedure for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games last month.
