Leaders of the opposition parties agreed on March 13 to further step up pressure on the Interior Ministry to secure fair investigation of the Sandro Girgvliani murder case.

Leaders of New Rights, Conservative, Republican, Labor, Freedom and Georgia’s Way (led by ex-Foreign Minister Salome Zourabichvili) held talks after those Interior Ministry officials, who are allegedly linked to the high-profile murder case, announced that they are suspended from office pending investigation.

“All those who have ordered this crime should be prosecuted… We think that the Minister in whose Ministry there are teams of murderers should resign as well,” MP Koba Davitashvili, leader of the Conservative Party, said at a news conference after the meeting of opposition leaders.

During the meeting opposition parties decided to join a protest rally planned outside the Interior Ministry for March 17.
