Georgian Company Leases Two Tbilisi Railway Stations

Georgian company Tbilisi Central (Tbilisi Tsentrali) has won a 49-year lease on the Tbilisi Central Railway Station as well as so called "Borjomi Railway Station" which services suburban trains from Tbilisi. The company has pledged to invest USD 10 million in reconstruction of the main Tbilisi station, the state-run Georgian Railway Company reported.

Reportedly the company will pay USD 490 000 annually to the Georgian Railway Company for leasing the stations.

Tbilisi Central, which was set up by TBC Group’s Georgian Reconstructing and Development Company (GRDC) and restaurant network owner GMC Group, has also pledged to resettle internally displaced persons currently living in the Tbilisi Central Station after paying compensations to IDP families.

The company plans to reconstruct both stations in Tbilisi within two years starting from this September.
