Civil Georgia, Tbilisi / 15 Mar.'06 / 11:06

Russian Foreign Ministry’s special envoy Mikheil Bocharnikov, who is in charge for the Abkhaz conflict issues, held talks with the officials from the Georgian Foreign Ministry on March 14 over peaceful resolution of the Abkhaz conflict.

According to the Georgian Foreign Ministry, the Russian side did not provide new vision and elements of the conflict resolution, “which is necessary for resumption of peace process having come to a standstill.”

“The Russian side remains committed to old approaches, which leads us to think that the Russian leadership lacks the adequate political will for the regulation of conflict through constructive cooperation with Georgia,” an information note issued by the Georgian Foreign Ministry reads.

The Russian Foreign Ministry’s special envoy arrived in Tbilisi on March 13. He has already met with Irakli Alasania, Chairman of the Tbilisi-based Abkhaz government-in-exile. On March 15 Bocharnikov will travel to Abkhaz capital, Sokhumi.
