Cash Register Protesters Rally
Civil Georgia, Tbilisi / 17 Mar.'06 / 15:32

Outdoor market vendors gathered again outside the Parliament on March 17 to protest against the regulation obliging them to use cash registers.

The Parliament is expected to discuss on March 17 a proposal by the opposition Conservative Party envisaging postponement of enforcement of this regulation for outdoor market sellers. But the parliamentary majority will most likely turn down this proposal as the government has already made it clear that it will not change its decision.

Protesters are expected to join a rally outside the President’s office later on Friday to demand Interior Minister Vano Merabishvili’s resignation over a high-profile murder scandal.
