Officials in Tbilisi have confirmed that 25-year-old citizen of Georgia Askan Manvelian was on board the Armenian airline plane flying from Yerevan to Shochi which crashed into the Black Sea on May 3.

All 113 passengers aboard died, mostly Armenian and Russian citizens.

Armavia’s Airbus A320 crashed near Sochi as it was trying to make a second emergency landing. Officials say bad weather caused crash.

The Georgian air navigation department reported that the plane planned to land in Tbilisi airport after it failed to land in Sochi because of the bad weather conditions.

“But the plane flew back to Sochi when it was over Kutaisi [eastern Georgia],” Giorgi Karbelashvili, Chief of the Air Navigation Department, told Rustavi 2 television.

Reportedly, the plane returned to Sochi after receiving information that weather conditions there were improving.
