Russian Ambassador Summoned over Giorgadze Case

The Georgian Foreign Ministry summoned Russian Ambassador to Georgia Vladimir Chkhikvishvili on May 24 to express protest regarding the recent statement made by Russian Deputy General Prosecutor Vladimir Kolesnikov, who said that Moscow is ready to grant political asylum to Igor Giorgadze, who is wanted by Georgia on terrorism charges.

Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Levan Choladze, who met with the Russian Ambassador, also protested against a news conference which was held by Giorgadze in Moscow on May 24.
