Civil Georgia, Tbilisi / 7 Jun.'06 / 11:14

Speaking at a joint news conference on June 6 in Tskhinvali the Abkhaz and South Ossetian leaders, Sergey Bagapsh and Eduard Kokoity, respectively, said that the upcoming talks between the Russian and Georgian Presidents should not be overestimated.

“This is a normal, political process... It seems that there are some economic issues which Georgia needs to negotiate with Russia – about wine, mineral waters, etc. This is a normal, working meeting and we do not expect anything extraordinary from this meeting,” Abkhaz leader Sergey Bagapsh, who paid a visit to breakaway South Ossetia, said, according to the South Ossetian Press and Information Committee.

“Some should not look at this meeting through a prism of Russo-South Ossetian, Russo-Abkhazian relations. There are many problems between Russia and Georgia. We would be very happy if Russia and Georgia could find a common language... We support peace in the Caucasus,” South Ossetian leader Eduard Kokoity said.
