Abkhaz Official Warns Against Police Operation in Kodori

Speaker of the breakaway Abkhaz Parliament Nugzar Ashuba warned on July 24 that the Georgian police operation in Kodori gorge against defiant warlord Emzar Kvitsiani will lead to “negative consequences.”

“Any kind of operation at the border with Abkhazia, or in Abkhazia will lead to provoking of unpredictable negative consequences,” Ashuba told RIA Novosti news agency.

On July 23 Georgian Parliamentary Chairperson Nino Burjanadze said she does not rule out police operation in Kodori gorge if situation is not improved there in few days.
