Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Visits Georgia

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Mehdi Safari visited Georgia on August 14-15 and met with the Georgian President, Foreign Minister and Prime Minister, according to the Georgian Foreign Ministry.

According to the IRNA news agency, during the meeting President Saakashvili noted Georgia’s willingness to boost ties with Iran and invited Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to Georgia.

President Saakashvili stressed necessity to boost cooperation in gas and electricity issues, according to IRNA news agency.

The Georgian Foreign Ministry, as well as the President’s Administration refrained to comment about details of talks.
