A group of U.S. Senators led by John McCain made a surprise visit to the breakaway South Ossetian capital Tskhinvali on August 27 to hold talks with the secessionist leadership, Georgian media sources reported.

Talks with South Ossetian leader Eduard Kokoity are planned, according to the reports.
