Senior MP Says Russia will Increase Gas Price
Civil Georgia, Tbilisi / 30 Oct.'06 / 12:41

Parliament’s Vice Speaker Mikheil Machavariani said on October 30 that Russia is expected to increase gas price for Georgia starting from 2007.

“We have information that the gas price will be political instead of economic,” Machavariani told reporters.

This issue will be on the agenda of the meeting between PM Zurab Nogaideli and senior parliamentarians on October 30.

The gas distribution company in Tbilisi, owned by the Kazakh state-run KazTransGaz, is currently undergoing talks with the Russian giant Gazprom to negotiate gas price for 2007. Talks are expected to be completed by mid-December.
