Civil Georgia, Tbilisi / 15 Nov.'06 / 12:12

Breakaway South Ossetia’s Central Election Commission (CEC) said on November 14 that Eduard Kokoity has been re-elected as ‘President’ with 98,1% of votes.

The unrecognized republic’s CEC also said that 99,88% voted in favor of independence in the November 12 referendum.

The EU, NATO, US, the Council of Europe (CoE) and the OSCE chairman have condemned the polls and referendum in South Ossetia. Russia, however, said the independence referendum in the breakaway region was an expression of free will by the South Ossetian people.
