New Ambassadors Appointed

Parliament approved Levan Duchidze, a lawmaker from the ruling National Movement party, as Georgia’s new Ambassador to Germany on December 27.

Duchidze, 27, who is deputy chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for Foreign Affairs, will replace Maia Panjikidze.

Ex-Deputy Defense Minister Mamuka Kudava was approved as Georgia’s new Ambassador to France and Georgia’s representative to UNESCO, replacing Natia Japaridze.

Davit Aptsiauri was re-appointed as Ambassador to Lithuania. Previously, he served as the ambassador covering all three Baltic States. Georgia’s new Ambassadors to Latvia and Estonia have not yet been appointed.

Salome Samadashvili, Georgia’s Ambassador to the EU and Benelux countries, retained the position but will no longer cover The Netherlands. Georgia’s new Ambassador to The Netherlands is not yet appointed.

Georgia will also have a new, separate Embassy for Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman and the United Arab Emirates. Gocha Japaridze was approved by the Parliament as Georgia’s Ambassador to these countries.

Ekaterine Mikadze became Georgia’s Ambassador to Jordan, Iraq and Lebanon.
