Visiting Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili will hold talks with NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer in Brussels on February 27, the Georgian President’s press office and NATO reported.

On February 26 Saakashvili met with EU High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana and discussed issues related to Georgia’s integration into the European Union and the settlement of the Abkhaz and South Ossetian conflicts.

“It is vital for Georgia that the European Union supports our territorial integrity and assists us in the resolution of conflicts,” Saakashvili said following the talks with Javier Solana in Brussels.

The Georgian President also stressed that the simplification of visa rules and introduction of a free trade regime are important factors on the way to integration into the European Union.

EU High Representative Javier Solana hailed the ongoing reforms in Georgia, saying that they are important not only for Georgia but also for the entire region.
