Parliament Passes Resolution in Support of Estonia
Civil Georgia, Tbilisi / 8 May.'07 / 18:05

The Georgian Parliament has passed a resolution condemning, as it put it, attempts to “provoke” riots and hooliganism in the streets of Estonian towns

The disturbances followed the Estonian government's relocation of a Soviet war memorial in Tallinn.

The resolution also condemned “violent actions” against Estonian diplomats carried out by protesters outside the Estonian embassy in Moscow.

“The Georgian Parliament fully supports measures undertaken by the Estonian authorities to restore order,” the resolution reads.

The resolution was passed amid an official visit of the Estonian president, Toomas Hendrik Ilves, to Georgia.
