‘Drunken’ Soldiers Disobey Officers
Civil Georgia, Tbilisi / 27 Sep.'07 / 20:18

A confrontation between officers and soldiers in a military base in Tbilisi has been resolved, Nana Intskirveli, a Defense Ministry spokesperson, has said.

She said that about 15 or 20 soldiers, who were drunk, had disobeyed orders by their commanding officers.

“No one was injured,” Intskirveli said. “An investigation will be held to determine how alcohol was smuggled into the base.”

Military police sealed off the base housing the 4th brigade of the armed forces in the evening on September 27 and army helicopters were sighted, patrolling above the base. Local residents reported hearing rifle fire.
