A corporal from the Kutaisi-based 3rd brigade committed suicide after a failed attempt to kill two other soldiers, military police said on October 10. 

“Levan Songulashvili attempted to kill two servicemen from the same brigade - Zurab Khogenashvili and Ioseb Gzirishvili – with a rifle. After failing to do so, he committed suicide with the same rifle,” Emzar Garibashvili, deputy chief of the military police, said.

Relatives of Corporal Songulashvili, however, have questioned the official version of events, alleging that he was murdered.
