Civil Georgia, Tbilisi / 28 Oct.'07 / 22:12

A group of young men have assaulted Bezhan Gunava, an MP from opposition Conservative Party in West Georgian town of Zugdidi, on October 28.

The incident was filmed by the Imedi TV crew, which planned to conduct an outdoor interview with Gunava. At least three uniformed police officers were seen in the footage standing at the incident site. They, however, did not intervene.

The incident came shortly after the opposition parties’ protest rally was over in Zugdidi. The rally was marred by scuffles between supporters of opposition and authorities.
