Civil Georgia, Tbilisi / 5 Nov.'07 / 15:26

Four opposition activists have announced on November 5 that they had launched a hunger strike in a protest to what they called the authorities’ ignorance of the opposition demand to hold parliamentary elections in spring instead of late 2008.

“I go on hunger strike and I will continue protest unless our demands are not met,” MP Levan Gachechiladze told a crowd of protesters outside the Parliament.

Others who also went on hunger strike are: Koba Davitashvili, the leader of Party of People; Paata Davitaia, leader of the On Our Own party and an opposition activist Bidzina Gegidze.
