A decree lifting the nation-wide state of emergency, due to come into force at 7 pm local time on November 16, was backed by the Georgian parliament on Thursdays by 153 votes to 2.

“The country will resume normal life starting from tomorrow at 7pm,” Nino Burjanadze said before the vote.

Tamaz Khidasheli and Beso Jugeli, lawmakers from the ruling party, voted against.
