CEC Approves Plebiscite Final Vote Tally

77% of voters favour Georgian membership of NATO and 79.7% want parliamentary elections to be held this spring, instead of late 2008, according to the final vote tally approved by the Central Election Commission (CEC) on January 18.

The final results are different from the early official results announced by the CEC on January 11. Then the CEC said 72.5% had voted for Georgia’s NATO membership and 69.8% - for spring parliamentary polls.
