| Saakashvili Asks NATO to Extend MAP to Georgia |

In a letter sent to the NATO Secretary General, Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, President Saakashvili called on the alliance to invite his country to join the NATO Membership Action Plan.
“[In the letter] the Georgian side expressed its readiness to join NATO Membership Action Plan (MAP) and formally called on the Alliance to make a decision regarding the matter,” the Georgian Foreign Ministry said on February 14.
