Civil Georgia, Tbilisi / 7 Apr.'08 / 15:39

Giga Bokeria, an influential lawmaker from the ruling party, will be appointed as the deputy foreign minister, Davit Bakradze, the foreign minister, said on April 7.

Speculation about this possible appointment first emerged in the Georgian media few months ago. MP Bokeria was among some of those heavyweight figures within the ruling party who kept law public profile in recent months. He, however, reemerged last week when he was a guest of the Rustavi 2 TV’s new talk show, Triangle.

It is not yet clear in charge of which direction Bokeria will be in the capacity of the deputy foreign minister. “The issue of distribution of competences among the deputies has not been decided yet,” he said adding that Bokeria would be appointed within the nearest several days.
