Civil Georgia, Tbilisi / 5 May.'08 / 19:36

The Abkhaz side has claimed that the Georgian unmanned reconnaissance drone again conducted flight over the breakaway region early on May 5.

“Despite the fact that we shot down two drones yesterday, today our radars observed again spy plane over the Ochamchire district, which came from the direction of Georgia,” Merab Kishmaria, the defense minister of breakaway region was quoted by the Abkhaz news agency, Apsnipress. “At this time we did not shot it down.”

Georgia has denied that its two drones were shot down on May 4. The Georgian Foreign Ministry, however, said Georgian Interior Ministry’s unarmed, unmanned reconnaissance drones “were flying, are flying and will continue flying over sovereign Georgian airspace to gather full information about the Russian military intervention.”

Apsnipress, meanwhile, also reported on May 5 that the breakaway region’s defense ministry showed to local journalists debris of one of the drones allegedly shot down on May 4.
