Civil Georgia, Tbilisi / 6 Jul.'08 / 12:48

Blasts close to the village of Rukhi on the Georgian side of the Abkhaz administrative border damaged the car of the deputy police chief of Zugdidi, but no one was injured, the Georgian Interior Ministry reported.

Explosions near the village of Rukhi happened early on Sunday morning, July 6. Shortly afterwards more explosions occurred close to Ganmukhuri village, also on the Abkhaz administrative border, the Georgian Interior Ministry reported.

The Russian peacekeeping command in the conflict zone said that four explosions occurred almost simultaneously in the conflict zone.

Russian news agencies quoted representatives of the Russian peacekeeping troops as saying that pieces of uniform used by Georgian special purpose units were found at the scene, alleging that the explosives were wrapped in a uniform.

Meanwhile, Georgian TV reported that a Russian peacekeeper armored personnel carrier had been seen at the scene before the explosions occurred.
