The Russian Ministry of Defense said in a brief statement on August 8 that Georgia had launched “a dirty adventure” in South Ossetia.

"The Georgian authorities have launched a dirty adventure. Bloodshed in South Ossetia will be on the conscience of these people. We will not let anyone offend our peacekeepers and citizens of the Russian Federation," the statement reads.
