Georgian police have detained a Russian military truck loaded with ammunition and explosives in the south from the village of Odzisi in the Mtskheta district, the Georgian Interior Ministry reported on September 24.

“The detained truck and its driver were handed over to OSCE representatives, who will hand them over to the Russian side,” the MIA statement reads.

The Russian driver told reporters that he served in the Russian army and had entered Georgia five days ago from North Ossetia.

“I fell behind the column and lost my way,” he said. “I was simply told to follow the column and I followed it. I did not know where I was going.”

Shota Utiashvili, an Interior Ministry spokesman, told reporters: “The fact is that the Russians are continuing military operations deep inside Georgian territory.”
