Civil Georgia, Tbilisi / 1 Oct.'08 / 19:33

No major incidents were reported on the first day of patrolling in Georgia, the EU Monitoring Mission (EUMM) reported on October 1.

Patrols set off from all four field offices in Poti, Zugdidi, Gori and Tbilisi.

Fourteen patrols – each with two cars and eight observers - were sent out, according to the EUMM.

The patrols entered areas adjacent to South Ossetia through three Russian checkpoints.

The EUMM recalled that the date for the withdrawal of Russian forces expires on October 10, as envisaged by the six-point ceasefire agreement.
