Some opposition parties are planning to launch “a new type of opposition movement,” which will lead “a new wave of protest” starting from November 7, Pikria Chikhradze of the New Rights Party said on October 21. She did not, however, go into the details. “I will speak about it when the time comes,” she said. “I do not plan to speak about it in advance, but this wave and this movement will be launched.” Levan Gachechiladze, a former opposition presidential candidate, called on supporters to rally on November 7 outside Parliament to mark the one year anniversary of the riot police break-up of an opposition demonstration. The New Rights Party said it would join the rally. “The November 7 rally will be absolutely peaceful,” Chikhradze said. “Last November 7 was a day of violence committed by the authorities against its own people. From now on, November 7 will be a day of protest against all violence.” |
