The Georgian Foreign Ministry said it was concerned over “the escalation of tensions in the Gaza Strip and deteriorating humanitarian situation, which has been triggered by rocket attacks launched by Hamas against innocent Israeli civilians.”

“The Ministry considers that escalation of violence jeopardize peace process in the Middle East and may threaten security situation in the entire region,” it said in a short statement on January 5.

Meanwhile, a small pro-Israeli rally was held in Tbilisi on January 5 with demonstrators waving Israeli flags and carrying English-language banners reading: Israel has Right on Defense and Stop Terrorism.
