Saakashvili on PM’s Media Speculation

President Saakashvili told PM Grigol Mgaloblishvili in a live televised meeting that he was glad that he had returned back to work after medical examination in Germany.
 
“I want to welcome Gega’s [a short form of the PM’s first name] return. The state of his health has triggered such nervousness in our neighboring Russia that I think, Russia will now calm down and focus more on global issues,” Saakashvili said with smile on his face.

He was referring to the press reports about alleged incident between him and the PM, which preceded Mgaloblishvili departure to Germany. Those reports were first circulated in the Georgian press and then picked by the Russian media sources.

Saakashvili made the remarks at the meeting the PM during which he discussed planned road reconstruction projects. Head of the road department, Ramaz Nikoleishvili, and state minister for regional issues, Davit Tkeshelashvili, also attended the meeting.

The officials briefed the President during the televised meeting about planned GEL 521 million spending on road infrastructure. The PM said that tenders with total worth of GEL 315 would be announced within the month and head of the road department briefed the President about the details of projects by using maps.
