EU Calls for Restraint as Rallies Loom

The EU Czech Presidency called on the Georgian authorities and the opposition in a statement on Tuesday “to act in responsible and peaceful manner and exercise maximum restraint, with due regard to public order and relevant legislation.”

“The Presidency emphasizes that full respect to freedom of assembly and freedom of expression is one of the core values shared by the democratic countries. The Presidency reiterates that people of Georgia can but benefit from political pluralism and constructive political dialogue between the Government and the opposition,” the statement reads.
