Nino Burjanadze, a former parliamentary speaker and leader of Democratic Movement-United Georgia, said on May 18 that she would sue President Saakashvili for damaging her “dignity and business reputation.” “During the meeting between the authorities and the opposition [on May 11], Saakashvili leveled utterly absurd allegation that I, Nino Burjanadze, am an implementer of Russia’s interests and a political leader financed from Russia,” Burjanadze said. “Society has learnt about it from Salome Zourabichvili [leader of Georgia’s Way party, who attended talks with Saakashvili], who voiced the President’s allegations during her televised and press interviews.” In his public speeches or remarks, President Saakashvili has not leveled accusations of that type against Nino Burjanadze. |
