Protesters March to Parliament

Thousands of protesters are now marching from Holy Trinity Cathedral towards the Rustaveli Avenue outside the Parliament as opposition leaders are expected to announce how they plan to proceed further with the protests.

Protesters led by opposition leaders arrived in the Cathedral after attending a rally on a football stadium. In the Cathedral Patriarch of Georgian Orthodox Church, Ilia II, conducted a prayer. Gigi Ugulava, an influential mayor of Tbilisi and President Saakashvili’s close ally, also arrived in the Cathedral triggering an angry reaction of some protesters, who chanted “Go, Go.”
