Levan Gogichaishvili, one of the key activists from pro-opposition youth groups, was arrested on June 17 in connection with a crime not related with ongoing protests.

The Interior Ministry said that Gogichaishvili is suspected of stabbing a young man after a friend’s birthday party outside Tbilisi late on June 9. Gogichaishvili’s defense lawyer told journalists that her client denied the charges.

Also on June 17, the Interior Ministry said that the police arrested a 23-year-old man suspected of stabbing a police officer in a clash that took place close to the protest venue outside the Parliament on May 28.
