Police arrested seven activists from the pro-opposition youth group, which were rallying outside the legislative body ahead of the President’s address to the Parliament on July 20.

Protesters were demanding release of what they call political prisoners and calling on the President to veto package of rally-related bills, which has been approved by the Parliament last week.

One of the arrested activists, Giorgi Devnozashvili, was released by the court after being fined with GEL 400; others were sentenced for prison term for administrative offense.

Giorgi Berulava, Eduard Khukhuneishvili, Tengiz Doborjginidze were sentenced to 12-day imprisonment; Melor Vachnadze, Dato Kochiev and Badri Gogia were sentenced to 14 days in prison.

The Interior Ministry said that all of them were charged with petty hooliganism, resisting police orders and blocking the Parliament’s entrance.
