Son Chairs Group Studying Late President’s Death

MP Konstantine Gamsakhurdia, son of late President Zviad Gamsakhurdia and leader of Freedom Party, was approved on November 6 as chairman of the parliamentary commission to study circumstances of the late President’s death sixteen years ago.

The Parliament also approved other ten members of the commission, which was established for the period of three months.

The members of the commission are lawmakers from the ruling party: Lasha Tordia, Rati Samkurashvili, Temur Tsurtsumia, Bezhan Khurtsidze, Naul Janashia; MPs from the Christian-Democratic Movement Levan Vepkhvadze and Rati Maisuradze; as well as two independent lawmakers Nugzar Ergemlidze and Roman Marsagishvili; and Jondi Bagaturia, leader of Georgian Troupe party.

Konstantine Gamsakhurdia, who retook his MP seat this week, has said for number of times previously that he was sure his father was killed and he did not commit suicide.
