Georgian Airways Conducts Charter Flight to Moscow
Civil Georgia, Tbilisi / 8 Jan.'10 / 13:45

Georgian Airways conducted its first direct charter flight from Tbilisi to Moscow on January 8 after the 2008 August war.

Other flights are scheduled for January 9 and 10 and the Georgian air carrier has also requested the Russian aviation authorities for the additional charter flights for January 16, 20 and 22.

“We are very happy with the re-launch of these flights,” Tamaz Gaiashvili, chairman of Georgian Airways’ board of directors, said. “We think that soon regular flights will also be resumed.”

Russia cut direct air flights with Georgia in October, 2006, following spy row between the two countries. The flights were restored in late March, 2008, but were again suspended after the August war.
