Alasania Says Optimistic about Elections

Irakli Alasania, leader of Alliance for Georgia and Tbilisi mayoral candidate, said after casting ballot that he expected elections would be held “calmly and normally.”

“With optimism I have voting for change,” he told journalists at of the Tbilisi’s polling stations. “Voters are quite active. So, we are very optimistic. I am sure that everything will pass calmly and normally and I have an expectation that everything will end calmly, normally and our democracy and our state will be stronger after these elections. Of course, we have great hopes for success.”

Another opposition mayoral candidate, Zviad Dzidziguri of National Council, said after casting the ballot that he had “voted for the truth.”
