Moldovan acting President, Mihai Ghimpu, arrived in Georgia's Black Sea resort of Batumi on August 15.

He was due to meet with President Saakashvili late on Sunday evening.

Saakashvili spoke by phone with Ghimpu on July 20 and pledged humanitarian assistance in response to flooding, which hit Moldova earlier last month.

“Moldova is our friend and ally… and we should definitely provide assistance to them,” Saakashvili said at a government session on July 20.

Georgia is now hosting dozens of Moldovan children from flood victim families in Black Sea resort of Anaklia. Moldova's acting President plans to visit Anaklia to meet with those children.
