Georgia's economy needs to grow 7-10% annually if the country wants to develop fast, President Saakashvili told lawmakers from his ruling National Movement party at an outdoor meeting in Black Sea resort of Anaklia on September 3.

"5%-6% growth is not enough," he said.

PM Nika Gilauri said last month that Georgian economy grew 5.5%-6% in the first half of 2010.

Saakashvili also said that share of state spending in the country's GDP should be reduced from the current 35% to 30% and again called on the government "to tighten belts"

Although salaries in the state structures should be increased, he said, " there is no need for the ministers to fly in business class; let them take economy class" seats. He also said the state structures should not buy cars worth more than USD 15,000.
