UN Expert on IDPs to Visit Georgia

Walter Kaelin, the U.N. Secretary-General's representative on the human rights of internally displaced persons, will visit Georgia next week.

After talks in Tbilisi to discuss situation of displaced persons, Kaelin will travel to breakaway Abkhazia where he will visit Sokhumi and Gali.

According to UN public information office Kaelin plans to discuss with authorities, civil society representatives and the internally displaced themselves how the displaced can find durable solutions.

The visit, which will start on September 13, is part of his trip to the region, which also includes visit to Armenia. Kaelin visited Georgia in early November, 2009 and traveled to breakaway South Ossetia.
