France, which mediated ceasefire agreement in Georgia-Russia war in 2008, welcomed Moscow's announcement about its intention to pull out its troops from the village of Perevi, located outside breakaway South Ossetia's administrative borders.

The French Foreign Ministry said in a statement on October 15 that Russia's announcement made during the thirteenth round of Geneva talks was "a good news" and added that although problems still remained, the announcement was a step in right direction.

It also called on "all parties to fully implement" the August 12, 2008 six-point ceasefire and its follow-up September 8, 2008 agreements. The French Foreign Ministry also reiterated support to Geneva talks and Georgia's territorial integrity.
