President Saakashvili arrived in Chisinau on November 24 where he will meet with Moldovan acting President, Mihai Ghimpu. Ghimpu visited Georgia in August. RFE/RL Moldovan Service reported, that the timing of the Georgian President’s visit – just ahead of Moldova's parliamentary elections on November 28 – was criticized by the Humanist Party, led by pro-Russian politician Valeriu Pasat, a former head of Moldova's intelligence services. It was also reported that Moldova’s former President and head of Communist Party, Vladimir Voronin, said the Georgian President offered a meeting, but he had rejected. |
