Christian-Democratic Movement (CDM), a leading party in the parliamentary minority group, urged President Saakashvili on November 30, to reverse heavy-handed policy against small and medium businesses, who “are struggling for survival”, trying “to get rid of claws” of tax authorities.

“We call on you to adequately assess the existing threat and spare no efforts to put an end to persecution of entrepreneurs and [to stop] filling of coffers with [money received] from plea bargaining deals with arrested businessmen,” CDM leader, MP Giorgi Targamadze, said in a written appeal to the President.

He also said that the country “is nearing to the most dangerous point of social disaster”, which required immediate measures. CDM is ready to put forth concrete proposals to tackle the problem, MP Targamadze said.

“It is up to the President to take major political decision to stop the government’s aggression against the Georgian business,” he said.
