Sergey Lavrov, Russia’s foreign minister, said that Moscow would not support final declaration of the OSCE Astana summit if it contained a wording – “conflict in Georgia”, as it would amount to referring Abkhazia and South Ossetia as parts of Georgia.

“In the final declaration, we are ready to actively and in details support Geneva Discussions. But we can not agree with [the wording] that these Discussions are dedicated to ‘conflict in Georgia’, as it is offered by some of our western partners,” RIA Novosti and Interfax news agencies reported quoting Lavrov.

In his speech at the OSCE summit in Astana on December 1, Russian President, Dmitry Medvedev, briefly mentioned Georgia and said:  “Use of force, as the Georgian leadership tried against South Ossetia in August 2008, is absolutely inadmissible.”
