Georgia's real GDP grew 6.7% in the third quarter of 2010 y/y and 6.5% in first nine months y/y, according to preliminary figures, released by state statistic office, Geostat, on December 24. Nominal GDP was GEL 5.39 billion in the third quarter, 17.5% increase y/y, according to Geostat. Processing industry enjoyed with largest growth in the third quarter with 18.3%, followed by hotels and restaurants – 15.7%; transport services – 13.9%; financial sector – 12.2% and trade – 11.7%. Agriculture sector suffered 1.8% contraction in the third quarter of 2010, according to Geostat. Georgia’s economy contracted by 3.8% in 2009. |
