Police broke up a hunger strike by over dozen of veterans of Georgia’s armed conflicts in Abkhazia and South Ossetia at the memorial of the Georgian fallen soldiers in Tbilisi center on January 3.

A group of veterans went on hunger strike and were camped on Heroes’ Square since December 27. They protested to highlight their social hardship and “undignified” attitude, which they said, the authorities were showing towards the veterans.

Reports say that several protesters were arrested. The Interior Ministry officials have not commented yet.
